Urban Ministry

That urban context is what provides a unique educational experience. Our Lawndale campus is not simply a campus located in the city; it is a vibrant context in which to study urban ministry and everything that comes with it.

Courses held at Lawndale Community Church

Lawndale Community Church is an example of powerful ministry that speaks to and influences its context. Started in 1978, that church has grown to include a medical clinic that serves over 140,000 patients each year, multiple houses designed to help individuals gain life skills and grow in faith, and a development corporation that renovates buildings to improve the community. Its founding pastor, Wyane “Coach” Gordon is also the founder and president of the Christian Community Development Corporation which has over 500 member churches.

Our partnership with Lawndale Community Church is what makes our Lawndale campus more than a campus in the city. The campus is a uniqure context found at no other seminary which provides a hands-on education for students wanting to powerfully impact their world for Christ.

Learn WITH Experience

All courses at our Lawndale Campus involve personal interaction with local pastors and ministry leaders who have experience in urban ministry. Students not only study ministry and experience it first-hand, but they also have the opportunity to learn from leaders that have been doing urban ministry for many years. Students not only learn from experience, but also learn WITH experienced leaders.
